Aqua Platinum are delighted to announce we have been awarded for Engineer of the Year 2022 for our Swimming Pool Service Engineer, Lewis Rooke, as voted for by The UK Pool & Spa Awards. Lewis started on an apprentice scheme 11 years ago with our previous company PolyPool, since then Lewis has worked his way up to become a Service Engineer with Aqua Platinum Servicing ltd.
Working mainly on our pool maintenance routes, Lewis typical day would be around 4-5 services in and around London and various locations in the South of England for some of our highest end clients. Carrying out the required tasks to ensure the sanitation and functionality of the pool maximising client satisfaction and full enjoyment of their facility.
These range from the typical poolside tasks such as removing all debris from the pool using the pool net, brushing of the pool walls and floor and vacuuming all debris for a clear crystal body. Lewis’ main time spent on a service visit would be within the plant room, ensuring all pool equipment is fully functioning to its full potential and reporting any anomalies for rectification.
Typical tasks in the plant room would be the replenishment of chemicals and backwash of filters for introduction of fresh water to the pool. With being fully trained with Bayrol Automatic Dosing Units, Lewis would then check and clean the probes, injectors, ensure all dosing and sample lines are clear and intact, finally recalibrating the unit to ensure all readings are correct.
Lewis’ typical call outs would be heating failure, system shut down issues or signs of leaks in the plant room. The most challenging part would be working with high-profile clients where the demand is always a true Rolls Royce. This is challenging however, also rewarding knowing that our servicing and maintenance is a class of its own.
